Dear Chapter Members,
It’s November and what a busy month! This month we celebrate:
National Deep Fried Clams Day
Election Day
Veterans Day
National Doughnut Day
National Cappuccino Day
National Scrabble Day
National Play Monopoly Day
National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day
National Homemade Bread Day
National Day of Listening
Thanksgiving Day
Black Friday
National Cake Day
As well as many, many more special days including International Fraud Awareness Week, November 17-23 which shines a spotlight on fraud and allows opportunities for education, support, and prevention of fraud. According to a 2018 ACFE Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse, organizations lose approximately 5 percent of the annual revenues due to fraud.
Throughout the week, organizations are encouraged to provide anti-fraud training and offer it to employees. Since fraud affects large and small businesses alike, it’s essential to know your company’s risk. Our Chapter is a supporting organization of International Fraud Week. Be sure and check out our social media pages. I invite you to take the fraud week quiz at https://www.fraudweek.com/2019-trivia-quiz.html
The ACFE will host a Contract and Procurement Fraud Workshop on November 18-20 in Nashville. The training is a great learning and networking opportunity. I encourage you to register and attend. Check out the link on our homepage for more information.
I hope you will join us for our November luncheon on Thursday, November 21, 2019 (National Gingerbread Cookie Day) at the Scarritt Bennett Center. Brett Kelman, Health Care Reporter with The Tennessean is our luncheon speaker and will share a story about how a Tennessee clinic swindled the US Military out of $65,000,000. Be sure and sign up by Wednesday, November 13, 2019 (World Kindness Day).
Be sure to regularly check out the “News” tab on our website for news, job postings, scholarship opportunities and much more.
Whew… my November calendar is full!
